Latest Updates from Our Project:

Wastedlands Ready for Print
over 3 years ago – Thu, Dec 31, 2020 at 04:52:32 PM

Greetings backs! It’s been a decade of a year but it’s almost over. We’ve been updating all the cards from the original game, 90 Proof Seas and Wastedlands with the new template to ensure everything matches and all verbiage is the same. After that was all done we went through the old P&Ps and updated all 3 for our backers. The links are posted below.

As always if you spot an error please let us know in the comments!

Each of the P&Ps has been adjusted to just below standard poker card size to save some ink. This is just for the P&Ps, the actual print versions will still be in our traditional Tarot size.

We've also set them up for easy double-sided print.

For our super backers, now that most things have been finalized we’ll be reaching out to each of you to get your card designed.

I know doing the KS updates isn't exactly my forte during the best of times and this year was especially rough. However now that we're in the final stretch heading towards manufacturing and fulfillment expect future updates at the end of each month. We’ll be pushing the close button on Backerkit surveys soon too so if you still need to update your addresses for shipping please take care of it in the next few weeks.

Some updates on status.
almost 4 years ago – Tue, Jun 09, 2020 at 09:53:18 AM

Hey everyone, I wanted to give an update on where we're at in production and explain the new delivery date which is March 2021. I know that's rough and I'm sure you're all aware of the why of it but let me break everything down clearer so you're all as informed as I am.

Because of the coronavirus, our manufacturers in Shenzhen had to close. Shenzhen is a port city in China and the second-largest manufacturing port next to Shanghai. But for small businesses, it's where most things get made. So, they shut down in February but didn't start letting their US clients know until April which is when we were notified. They said they were going to start exactly where they left off in their queue before the lockdown and that everyone would get pushed back 4 months. So for DrunkQuest we were looking at moving from June to October and so I was thinking November so we had some time to prepare and could do things production style out of the house. But we've received two separate emails since then letting us know of further delays for a lot of reasons that revolve around them being the bottleneck for so many small business products. The plan is to ship out as soon as we can. We're hoping the delays stop and we can start earlier but I'd rather give you a new date and beat it then overpromise and miss yet another delivery date.

I also feel like, for some levity, I should address the elephant in the room when it comes to DrunkQuest and delivery date delays. It's happened every. single. time. And I promise I'm not doing it on purpose.

The P&P for Wastedlands is still being worked on at the moment. I was hoping it would be done for the update but it's not ready yet. The others are though!

Lastly, I wanted to mention that I haven't closed Backerkit down but they are asking me to submit the charges soon. I didn't want to have an unexpected charge hit your accounts during all this. But I will need to close charges soon so I can start getting shipping together so post your comments below but I'm thinking the end of the month.

Thanks everyone, if you have questions just leave a comment.

DrunkQuest: Red Label
about 4 years ago – Mon, Mar 02, 2020 at 06:07:02 PM

Hello again! Today I wanted to show off some of the updates we're doing to the original red box version of DrunkQuest. A version we're now officially calling Red Label. In the 7 years since its release DrunkQuest has been played thousands of times in dozens of countries! During that time we've been lucky enough to have grown a community of players interested in supporting and expanding the game. We've been sent ideas for new house rules, suggestions on mechanics and lots of questions about how cards interact with each other. Those suggestions were saved to a spreadsheet we've been compiling with the intention of a 2nd Edition.

We knew we had to make some changes for this reprint but unlike our approach to the expansions, when it came to Red Label we wanted to keep things simple. Make improvements that add to what exists rather than trying to squeeze new ideas into an already fun box. And through we unfortunately couldn't do all the changes planned for a 2nd Edition we knew we couldn't send Red Label to print without a pass on some key cards. So let's look at some of the things we updated starting with the heroes!

The heroes were retouched using the template set in Wastedlands. We've also gone through and updated all these card types in The 90 Proof Seas to ensure everything matches. Next we took a look at the realms. It wasn't until Black Label that we figured out how much better the realm logos sit on landscape cards. We've gone through each one and updated the design as well as gave each realm an interesting and useful ability.

Lastly we updated the bosses. Outlined briefly in the last update, our idea of what a boss encounter should be has changed over the years. Boss monsters should be a fun challenge that breaks up regular gameplay and not more of the same. To that end, every boss in DrunkQuest has had its abilities changed to reflect this new direction. You'll notice the Drink Dragon now acts like Black Beard in 90 Proof Seas. She is a prize for anyone willing to chug more than their friends and unlike other Permanents that subtract drinks the Drink Dragon negates drinks from all sources including instants.

We also had to go through our old rules and update them to both reflect the current changes to certain cards and to more clearly explain some of the mechanics and ideas in DrunkQuest that were maybe a little (ok very) unclear before. if you're interested in checking out the revamped rules you can download them HERE.

Next, I'm sure some of you have noticed the Backerkit survey didn't close on March 1st as announced. While we haven't heard from our manufacturers specifically, all other manufacturers in the same province have issued a 4 month delay notice to customers so we assume DrunkQuest is in the same delay. This would put our delivery date in October/November. Because of this we're currently looking at other options for production and will update with information as soon as we have it.

In the next update we'll go over each of our Boozter packs and what new flavors they add to a game. If you have any questions or concerns, as always, please voice them in the comments!

The 90 Proof Seas
about 4 years ago – Mon, Feb 17, 2020 at 06:58:35 PM

Hello again! I wanted to start showing off some of the cool things we're working on as we get finalized designs, layouts and numbers before sending everything out to the manufacturers. Today I wanted to show off the changes we've decided to include for the reprint to our first expansion The 90 Proof Seas. Though the project didn't make it to the full 2nd Edition I still wanted to do a few tweaks to gameplay while I was updating some of the other aspects to be uniform across all games.

When I set out to do the first expansion I wanted every card to do something different with existing mechanics over introducing something new. The thought behind it was to not add new rules to a drinking game hopefully keeping things easy to pick up. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. In the case of player ships, in my opinion it didn't. From the players first introduction to them they're asked to leave other cards in the box (the Realms) to use them. Then the ships require you to load cards into them one at a time each turn, which requires some attention and dedication both of which are hard to come by when you're level 3 and just defeated a 23 drink monster. And finally once you've loaded all your cannons and can fire, the ship punishes you by making you lose the passive ability you just gained by loading all the cannons. It was a lot to keep track of and ultimately most people just used the realms because they were easier.

I've learned a lot since the first expansion. So with the opportunity to retouch The 90 Proof Seas I wanted to update the ships to be the flagship expansion mechanic they were meant to be. First, let's take a look at the new layout and design for the ships. I wanted to push Athenas' art forward and minimalize the UI needed to convey what it does.

The first thing we did was put ships in the Treasure Deck. You can win them by defeating monsters making them a reward instead of an additional step during setup. Next, like special cards and bosses we took the art to the edge of the card indicating that they operate outside of the normal DrunkQuest rules.

The way they look isn't the only thing that's new. We rebuilt the way they work from scratch. Now, discarding a card fires a cannon ball at another player for immediate drinks. This can be done at any time during the circle, like playing an Instant. Here's a closer look at how cannon damage and cannonballs work.

These changes make ships fast, useful and immediately fun to draw from the treasure deck. Of course in reworking the ships that come with the game we had to of course redo the promos included with the MegaPack. This is a good time to also say that the MegaPack is only being printed for the Kickstarter, it will not be for sale anywhere else. Not selling it allows us to tuck some of our more rare promos into the box.

After going through the ships and loving the new mid circle cannonball barrages that can break out. I wanted to include more of the unique meta ships add to the game. And though technically not unlocked, I couldn't help but carry the new cannon ball gameplay into our two bosses in The 90 Proof Seas.

Now both bosses incorporate player ships into their gameplay. The Kraken requires all ships fire at it to be defeated. And Black Beard is willing to give your ship some extra firepower if you can prove you're a worthy sea captain by chugging more of your drink then your fellow questers! With the 2nd Edition I had planned to include cards that could upgrade your ship but unfortunately we aren't able to additional  cards into the reprint of The 90 Proof Seas...

Thankfully, there's have the MegaPack to put anything I want want into. There will be 2 copies of each of these treasures in the MegaPack to mix into the game if you want extra milage out of the new ships.

We also updated the rulebook, all the card backs to match the 2020 look. Athena and I hope you like the new ships and other changes included in The 90 Proof Seas reprint. Next update we'll show off more of the cards coming to Wastedlands and some of the design tweaks coming to the original DrunkQuest.

Surveys Closing: March 1st
about 4 years ago – Thu, Feb 06, 2020 at 02:18:02 AM

Hello again everyone. I hope everyone's holidays were good. We're still wrapping up final designs for all the stretch goals but we're getting close to being done and it's time to start preparing for manufacturing.

To that end we'll be closing the surveys down on March 1st. The updates to Bakerkit gave me a little trouble early on but I think I've got a good grasp on it now so if you're still running into any issues with the platform please comment or send me a message and we'll get it fixed. I'll be sending out weekly reminder emails for those who haven't filled out their survey starting Monday so apologies for the spam in advance if you're currently on vacation.

For those of you who ordered Black Label. We've been forced to wait on early shipping. We managed to ship about a 1/3rd out before the price hike at the end of the year. As soon we can start sending them out again we'll update and then send the rest.

Lastly, at the end of this month Loot Corps will start showing off our second game! Tavernin is poker for the board gamer. A strategic gambling game with high replayability for 2-6 players.

We'll have demos running at Strategicon in LA at the end of the month and next month here in Vegas we'll be at Dice Tower West. With more conventions to follow. So if you see the logo at a con please come say hi.
